Our story

Wageningen is young, international, and engaged. But it also faces challenges: affordable housing, climate stress, inequality, complex regulations—many people feel unheard or excluded.

Connect-Volt Wageningen wants to change that.

We’re building a city where you can participate and have a say. Where housing is affordable, sustainability is common sense, your ideas are taken seriously, and you can shape your future.

The major issues of our time don’t stop at the city limits. Climate, agriculture, housing, digital security—they’re felt locally but connected to Europe and The Hague. Connect knows what’s happening on the streets, and Volt brings European solutions and knowledge within reach. Together, we translate European opportunities into solutions for Wageningen.

We don’t choose polarized politics—we choose real change. Practical, open, together. Whether it’s cooperative housing, a climate-friendly campus, or multilingual participation—we’re building a city where everyone feels at home.

Wageningen is engaged. But politics still feels like something for “others.” We’re changing that. Volt and Connect make democracy more accessible, fair, and understandable—for students, young people, internationals, newcomers, and long-time residents.

Because you don’t need to be a big city or a big country to make an impact. If we work together locally and use Europe’s opportunities, Wageningen can show what the future looks like.

Mission

We’re building a connected Wageningen where everyone counts and participates. As Connect-Volt Wageningen, we stand for a city that is locally rooted but globally minded. We bring people together—students and seniors, newcomers and long-time residents—and work on solutions that are fair, sustainable, and future-oriented.

Our mission is to prepare Wageningen for tomorrow’s challenges by building bridges today—between residents, neighborhoods, and between local policy and European opportunities. We believe in collaboration, transparency, and the power of inclusive democracy.

Vision

Wageningen is a unique city: innovative, green, and engaged with each other and the world. We believe our city can be a model for how local strength and European cooperation go hand in hand. In our vision, Wageningen in 2035 is:

  • Sustainable and accessible – with climate-neutral neighborhoods, green spaces, and clean mobility.
  • Affordable and inclusive – where housing, healthcare, and opportunities are accessible to all.
  • Digital and connected – where smart solutions enhance well-being and no one is left out.
  • Democratic and engaged – where residents truly participate and have a say, regardless of language or background.
  • Wageningen and European – where we use European knowledge and opportunities to achieve our local ambitions.

Connect-Volt Wageningen is the movement that makes this vision possible—by connecting, breaking boundaries, and putting people first.
