Connect Wageningen and Volt Join Forces: Connect-Volt Wageningen Launches
With the upcoming municipal elections in March 2026 in mind, Connect Wageningen and Volt Foodvalley are joining forces. Under the name Connect-Volt Wageningen, we are forming a new political alliance focused on a sustainable, inclusive, and progressive Wageningen.
Beide partijen delen een progressieve visie: een stad waar inwoners – jong en oud, lokaal en internationaal – actief kunnen meedenken en meebeslissen. De samenwerking is een logische stap: "We willen de kracht van Volt als Europese beweging combineren met de lokale kennis en ervaring van Connect Wageningen. Samen kunnen we meer betekenen voor de stad."
Connect Wageningen was founded in 2017 to give young people, students, internationals, and newcomers a voice in local politics. Volt adds a European perspective and a strong network with solutions and opportunities. Together, we aim to build a city that is locally rooted yet internationally connected.
With an ambitious vision for Wageningen in 2035, we outline a future in which the city is sustainable and accessible, with climate-neutral neighborhoods, green spaces, and clean mobility. We strive for an affordable and inclusive city, where fair opportunities for housing, healthcare, and employment are central for everyone. Technology plays a vital role in this: digitally connected, with smart applications that contribute to well-being and leave no one behind. Democratic engagement is also high on the agenda. Every resident should feel heard, regardless of background. We also see Wageningen as a place where European knowledge and resources can be applied locally.
Our campaign kicks off during the AID information market, where we will be present with a joint stand. In September, a festive gathering will follow as the official launch. Starting 15 September, joint council group meetings will also begin, open to anyone interested.
